MEDIA RELEASE 31 OCTOBER 2006
SEABREEZE NELSON BAY WINS HOTEL OF THE YEAR
The landmark Seabreeze Hotel in Nelson Bay (NSW) has been announced
as the Independent Liquor Group (ILG) ‘Hotel of the Year’,
a prestigious award which identifies a hotel providing outstanding
facilities and service.
Part of the Port Stephens Motel Group, the Seabreeze Hotel has
received the sought after award, which recognises the venue as
demonstrating best practice in the management of its bottle shop,
bars, gaming, restaurant and accommodation.
‘Hotel of the Year’ also takes into account the level
of commitment an establishment has to community support, plus
its ongoing investment to providing patrons with the highest quality
facility possible, and on both counts Seabreeze came out a winner.
“It’s an absolute honour for Seabreeze to win ILG’s
‘Hotel of the Year’,” owner and General Manager
of the Nelson Bay hotel, Bruce Sanders said.
“Winning this award not only identifies us as a key player
in the liquor industry, but confirms our dedication to providing
optimum facilities, services, and an enjoyable experience for
our customers.
“Seabreeze is in a fantastic location on one of the most
prestigious sights in Eastern Australia, people visit here to
relax and enjoy themselves.
“And quite often people’s enjoyment is complimented
by a glass of nice wine or a beer, and we pride ourselves on our
selection.
“Winning this award means that at our hotel, customers
will be guaranteed a quality experience, quality products, and
an exceptionally good time.”
With 67 staff currently on-board, Seabreeze is an extremely well
run establishment, with owner Bruce Sanders taking a hands on
role as General Manager, ensuring all elements of the business
are running at optimum levels.
Sanders’ establishment was recognised as a hot contender
for ILG’s ‘Hotel of the Year’ by ILG Senior
Management and Territory Managers, who ultimately judged the final
nominees.
“The Seabreeze Hotel was found to be outstanding in all
areas of the selection process,” General Manager for Marketing
of ILG, David Campbell said.
“The hotel operates as a stand-out advocate for ILG to
other independent liquor outlets, it is a prime example for those
others who might be interested in selecting a wholesaler.”
“They are also a big supporter of our marketing banner group
(Pubmart) in their retail bottle shop.
“They are well set up, well run and just overall an impressive
operation.”
The Nelson Bay hotel offers a wide range of fine wines and liquor,
from both drive-through or walk-in bottle shops, and patrons are

meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner, which can be enjoyed while
soaking up the Nelson Bay atmosphere.
Seabreeze offers live entertainment every Friday and Saturday
